This year, for Valentine’s day, I wanted to do something a little bit different on the blog to celebrate l’amour in the city of lights. After a bit of brainstorming, I decided that I wanted to interview some of my fellow expats about their French partners. The results are sweet, funny and really give an insight into what it’s like to be in a multilingual relationship!
Let’s start with Emily from The Glittering Unknown!
Your names: Emily and Didier
Where you met: In front of the Coolin, a now-closed bar in the Marche Saint Germain
Dealing with bilingual madness: Since March 2015
2016 was a rough year for the world and I think most of us breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was finally over! For me, personally, 2016 was a year of self-discovery. I found out more about who I am and what I want from life and although it was definitely a year […]
Having been living as a Parisienne for over 6 years now, I often get asked if the city is worth visiting. My response? YES, absolutely. You must come. You need to come. How soon can you fly over? Did you hear Air France was having a sale??? Bottom line is, I love Paris and come rain […]

Anyone who knows me, even a little, knows that I have always hated running. At school, I dreaded cross country and would do everything in my power to find a way to get out of it. When we would run through the woods where I knew that the teacher’s couldn’t see us I’d stop and walk, blaming my slow time on […]
This adorable little courtyard is, and has been since I discovered it, one of my favourite secret spots in Paris. I lived in Paris for almost 5 years before I finally found this little piece of heaven nestled in the heart of the buzzing 10th arrondissement. Special thanks to my wonderful friend Kath who took me […]
As much as I love Paris, I have often found the price of certain things to be quite baffling. Things that cost next to nothing in England are triple the price here and to make matters worse, these are generally the basic necessities so you can’t decide not to buy them. As a result, I […]
Although March is finally upon us, winter is still clinging on in Paris. The parks are blustery and people everywhere are wrapped up warm in thick scarves and woolly hats. It’s easy to choose to stay indoors with the cold weather but don’t miss these great things in the city this month. 1. On a Wednesday, […]
